The chickens are coming home to roost
In only a month Trump has completely turned America upside down and even MAGAs are angry
The cracks are forming. The leaks are springing. Trump’s very fragile coalition of cranks, kooks, losers, and ne’er-do-wells led by a demented Donald Trump and his minion, a drug addled, chainsaw-wielding Elon Musk have torn apart and upended our longstanding international alliances that have held strong since the end of World War 2 and destroyed the careers of thousands of Federal workers without a shred of concern for the wellbeing of the country or the economy. And it only took them a month to accomplish.
Well the chickens are coming home to roost as the markets are responding and even some MAGAs who supported Trump are having second thoughts about their votes.
From the Associated Press:
“Companies report widespread concerns about the impact of federal government policies, ranging from spending cuts to tariffs and geopolitical developments,” said Chris Williamson, chief business economist at S&P Global Market Intelligence. “Sales are reportedly being hit by the uncertainty caused by the changing political landscape, and prices are rising amid tariff-related price hikes from suppliers.”
Trump’s approval ratings have been plummeting with more respondents disapproving of his performance than approving. Polling also shows that the majority of Americans do not appreciate an unelected billionaire wielding so much power against our government.
From The New Republic:
Three new national polls show that President Donald Trump’s job approval is decidedly underwater. Even more tellingly, however, the new polls show that majorities are rejecting Trump’s authoritarian governing tactics. And on top of that, Elon Musk, who’s been tapped to carry out some of Trump’s most autocratic designs, fares even worse than Trump does in this polling.
Consumer confidence is also down as more and more Americans wake up to the fact that Trump is an utter disaster.
From the Wall Street Journal:
U.S. consumer confidence slid backward this month, reflecting expectations that tariffs proposed by the Trump administration on goods imports will lead to rising prices.
The University of Michigan’s index of consumer sentiment tumbled to 64.7 at the end of February, well below January’s 71.7. It also was weaker than economists’ expectations of 67.8 from a Wall Street Journal poll, which was also the February midmonth reading.
In particular, the survey’s gauge for buying conditions for durable goods—those meant to last five years or more—slumped, in large part due to fears that tariff-induced price increases are imminent, survey director Joanne Hsu said.
Meanwhile Trump has abandoned his election pledge to reduce inflation on “Day One”. In fact not only has he reneged on his promises, he’s predictably chosen to blame Biden for today’s increasing inflation.
Not only have egg prices increased since the election, but so have other common staples that American consumers rely upon. Remember when Trump stood in front of a table full of groceries during the election and promised to fix prices?
Yeah, about that.
Republicans are now facing crowds of hostile voters at their town halls. Those that actually hold town halls, that is.
From NBC:
At events from Georgia and Wisconsin to Oklahoma and Oregon, House Republicans faced sometimes-hostile crowds furious about the sweeping budget cuts and mass firings of federal workers that President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency are carrying out.
With the House on recess and many lawmakers returning to their districts, this week was the first opportunity for them to hear directly from constituents about Trump and Musk’s scorched-earth strategy to cut spending and shrink the federal government's footprint.
At City Hall in Roswell, a suburb of Atlanta, on Thursday night, attendees jeered and talked over Republican Rep. Rich McCormick as they peppered him with tough questions about the cuts — and the seemingly indiscriminate way some of them are being carried out.
The contentious town halls could be an early sign of political backlash to come for elected Republicans as thousands of federal workers around the country begin getting pink slips and Americans start to feel the impact, as the GOP-controlled Congress largely yields to Trump and Musk.
One Republican lawmaker said it appeared that constituents who've been "quiet" since Joe Biden's 2020 victory are back out in force.
"Too much too fast seems to be a common refrain," the lawmaker continued. "Need to review each program, department or agency first and then make calculated decisions. But generally frustrated right now by lack of clarity."
It’s only been a month and it’s become clear to all but the most ardent MAGA supporter that Trump is an utter disaster who refuses to live up to his promises to voters while he enacts the worst parts of Project 2025. It’s time for Democrats to wake up and exploit these cracks in the dam before the destruction becomes permanent and irreparable.
I admire and respect your courage sister. Please stay safe while living your best life.
This happened for Trump’s first 30 days.
