An unprecedented seismic shift is taking place in America
And it's only been six days since President Biden passed the torch
I’m old enough to remember the phrase “Morning in America” used in Ronald Reagan’s 1984 political campaign even though I was just a teenager living in Canada. As you well know, Reagan went on to win one of the most lopsided landslides in the history of this country.
Well it kind of feels like morning in America again, doesn’t it?
Only six days ago Joe Biden shocked the nation by announcing that he would step down from the Presidential campaign and pass the torch to his Vice President, Kamala Harris. Three weeks after his disastrous debate performance and three weeks of media speculation along with a bevy of Congressional representatives calling for him to step down had finally concluded. President Biden saw the writing on the wall, read the internal polling, and did the most difficult thing in his long career.
But what has happened since is equally as shocking. In six short days Kamala Harris has become a force of nature.
She is breaking fundraising records. She is breaking volunteer records. She is breaking voter registration records. Heck, she even broke Zoom when over 150,000 women joined a fundraising call leading to the server crashing.
Meanwhile the other side continues to double down and attack women as “childless cat ladies” and resorting to vile, baseless, and racist attacks against her. Because that’s all they’ve got.
Meanwhile more of JD Vance’s history keep coming to light. And the more the nation learns about him, the more they hate him. In fact he is 16 points underwater for approvals IN HIS OWN STATE. And he came out of the RNC convention 6 points underwater. Worse than Dan Quayle. FAR worse than Sarah Palin.
And then there’s this from last night:
“And again, Christians, get out and vote! Just this time. You won’t have to do it anymore. Four more years. You know what? It’ll be fixed! It’ll be fine! You won’t have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you, Christians! I’m a Christian. I love you. Get out. You gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don’t have to vote again.”
He’s literally just saying the quiet part out loud now. His “vision” for ‘24 and beyond is to literally end voting. It doesn’t get more clear than that.
Compare and contrast:
Freedom. The freedom to be who you want to be. The freedom to love who you want to love. The freedom to read whatever book you want to read. The freedom to make your own reproductive choices.
Freedom vs. Fascism. Light or darkness. Those are the choices this November.
Morning in America indeed.
